Our Copyediting Services

Every Detail of Your
Writing Matters

01

Grammar, Spelling & Punctuation

We perform a meticulous sweep to eliminate all mechanical errors — every misplaced comma, every misspelled word, every grammar rule violation caught and corrected.

02

Consistency & Style Guide Adherence

We ensure your book follows a unified set of rules from page one to the very end — character details, timelines, formatting, capitalization, and number styles all locked in.

03

Syntax & Clarity Refinement

We fix sentences that are technically grammatically correct but structurally confusing — untangling long constructions, clarifying ambiguous references, and improving readability.

The Copyediting Difference

What Meticulous Copyediting
Actually Changes

Before Copyediting

Comma splices and grammar errors break reader immersion on every chapter

Character's eye colour changes between chapters — readers notice immediately

Dialogue punctuation inconsistent — some lines have commas, others don't

Numbers formatted three different ways in the same paragraph

Spelling of character names changes throughout (Sarah vs Sara vs Sahra)

Readers leave one-star reviews citing "poor editing" and "distracting errors"

After Uprisen Copyediting

Flawless grammar throughout — readers stay immersed from first to last page

Every character detail locked in — your style sheet ensures series-wide consistency

Dialogue formatted correctly and consistently on every single line

Numbers, dates, and capitalization follow one unified standard throughout

Every name, place, and term spelled consistently across the entire manuscript

Your manuscript meets the mechanical standards of any major publishing house

Author Stories

What Authors Say About Our
Copyediting

They caught every dangling modifier and inconsistent timeline I missed. Strictly followed the style guide, which was great. Just wish they had updated me at the halfway mark.

Finnian Hayes

Historical Fiction Author

The manuscript is finally grammatically bulletproof. They fixed the POV slips and syntax errors that my previous editor missed, leaving the text clean and highly professional.

Rowan Sterling

Non-Fiction Author

Meticulous attention to detail on grammar and mechanics. My only minor critique is that the Word document was heavily cluttered with tracked changes, making it a bit hard to navigate.

FAQs

Copyediting Questions Answered

Copyediting is a deeper, more comprehensive edit that fixes grammar, syntax, consistency, and style. Proofreading is the final, lighter check performed after copyediting and formatting — it catches any remaining typos or layout errors that slipped through. Copyediting always comes first.

No — and this is fundamental to our approach. Copyediting focuses strictly on the mechanics of writing. We will fix clunky syntax and clarify genuinely confusing sentences, but we will never rewrite your prose or alter your unique authorial voice. Your book remains entirely yours.

We check for internal consistency throughout — character names, timelines, physical descriptions, and established rules of your world. However, we do not perform deep fact-checking for non-fiction or developmental checks for plot holes. For those, we recommend a Developmental Edit first.

A standard Microsoft Word document (.docx) is required. Please use a standard font (like Times New Roman, 12pt) with double spacing. This ensures we can add comments, tracked changes, and queries clearly throughout the document.

We typically copyedit 3,000 to 5,000 words per day with full attention and care. A standard 80,000-word novel usually takes about 3 to 4 weeks. Rush delivery is available for an additional fee for authors with time-sensitive publishing deadlines.
